Happy 1st December. As usual, I’ll be sharing some of my festive makes with you this month. All the designs are super speedy and super simple, ideal for quick makes in an evening or weekend (the ever popular Stashbuster Bauble Wreath will take a few evenings – but it’s a very portable project!) Every day I’ll be sharing a different design or project idea on my Instagram feed. You can also find a full list and description of all my current patterns on Payhip. I’ve released a few of my old favourites again this year too – the Felted Baubles and Elfin Booties are great present ideas and the Jolly Holly, Star and Mistletoe are great for combining to make a festive wreath. To get you started, you can find the free instructions for Mistletoe by clicking through to the 2016 post (there are even helpful photos to guide you along).
Yes, eagle eyed readers have seen this wreath before, especially when Simply Crochet magazine featured it on the front cover of the Crochet Christmas collection in 2016. I just love these bright colours!
This pattern can be bought from Ravelry or for the special price of £1.00 plus VAT on Love Crochet. You can choose to follow my bright colour palette or stick to more festive shades. Just remember to cover your polystyrene wreath in fabric or ribbon as some glues will cause the plastic wreath to melt! I have also made a version using a card circle, cut from the bases you sometimes get with frozen pizza!
I do hope you’re enjoying these festive makes and feeling inspired to make a few handmade additions to your Christmas decorations. Don’t forget to share your makes with the hashtag #grannycoolchristmas, I love to see what you’ve all been making!
Since December I’ve been working hard on new commissions for a publication due out later this year. It’s really frustrating as I’ve sat at my desk every day making some rather beautiful samples and writing patterns, but because of my contract I’ve not been able to share a single photo (not even sneaky yarn teasers). I do have a few designs coming up in issue 89 of Inside Crochet, but in the mean time here’s a reminder of a great free pattern I wrote a few years back. It’s the perfect gift bag for all those Mothers day treats you have planned and it’s easy to customise if you need to make it larger. I like to make these for friends and fill them with goodies such as bubble baths, chocolates or yarny treats. It’s so much nicer to make the packaging part of the gift. You can download the pattern from Love Crochet, or if you hop over to Ravelry you can get more inspiration from some of the lovely projects makers have shared.
Also perfect for Mothers Day, or just to hang on the door and welcome spring is this gorgeous heart wreath. You can also use the flower to make pretty corsages or a cute pin cushion. You can find all the details here.
Over the summer I shall be redesigning and re branding all my knitting and crochet patterns, some will be “retired” for ever and some are being made with new yarns in new colours. Before I remove them all from sale here’s your chance to grab a bargain. Most patterns are now reduced to just £1 (plus VAT), so head over to Ravelry and choose your favourites. They’ll only be available until 1st July.
