For some time, I’ve been trying to think of a way to say “thank you” to those lovely souls who have bought copies of my books, or borrow them from the library. In this age of free stuff, and endless blogs filled with free patterns and techniques it means a lot to me that so many of you have put your hands in your pockets and handed over your cash for these books.
So, I have come up with the idea of “bonus content”, this means that I’ll be sharing patterns that give you all the information you need to make the projects – except the stitch itself – you’ll find that in the books! Each pattern will tell you clearly which book you’ll need and there will be plenty of page references and handy hints and encouragement, so that even beginners will be able to make these projects. After 12 months, each pattern will be made available as a pdf with full instructions.
I’m starting with a blanket, because so many of my pupils love to make these and they’re much easier than you might think. The Soft Wave blanket uses double knitting weight cotton, which is widely available. I used Drops Love You 9, which retails at under £1.00 a ball – that’s exceptionally good value – less than £10.00 to make a complete blanket. You’ll find the Soft Wave stitch in Crochet. Learn It, Love It (which was previously printed as the Woman’s Weekly Guide to Crochet). My next bonus pattern will feature a lovely stitch from 200 More Crochet Stitches (in the USA that’s printed as A Step by Step Guide to 200 Crochet Stitches – no I don’t know why publishers give different titles to the books either!).
This pattern is only available on the website, or from my classes. If you have been to one of my classes or you’re a knit and natter regular who would prefer a pdf version, drop me an email and I’ll happily send a copy on to you!
Look out for more Bonus Content over the summer.
